Apprentices at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT were rewarded with a special graduation ceremony at Tameside Hospital last week.

Those who have successfully passed an apprenticeship in the last year received a certificate to mark their achievements.

The graduation was part of the Trust’s events to mark National Apprenticeship Week, celebrating the role and contributions of apprentices in the workforce.

Over 20 people were in attendance to receive congratulations from Director of People and Organisational Development, Amanda Bromley.

The Trust currently employs more than 120 apprentices in a range of clinical and non-clinical roles, combining ongoing education with practical experience, ranging from Level 2 (GCSE) to Level 7 (Masters).

Speaking about the graduation, Amanda said: “It was my pleasure to present our recent graduates with their certificates and congratulate them on making the next step in their respective careers.

“From traditional health and care positions through to finance, IT and administration, apprenticeships offer an excellent opportunity to earn a salary and learn at the same time, while providing you with the skills you need for the future.”

The Trust also announced further support for current and future apprentices with the establishment of an apprentice forum.

The forum will serve as a peer support network, offering a space to both seek and offer advice from fellow apprentices.

It was an idea driven by Amber Henthorn, who is currently undertaking a Level 6 Project Management course after previously completing her Level 4 Associate Project Manager apprenticeship.

Amber said: “As apprentices, we are all trying to achieve the same goal but as we work across such a huge variety of roles in the Trust, we don’t often get chance to meet up or share our experiences.

“The forum will allow us to connect with each other on a more regular basis, share knowledge and generally act as a support network if people feel they need help.”
