Today, Thursday 12 May, is International Nurses’ Day, a chance for everyone to remember and celebrate the hard work, compassion and dedication that nurses provide every single day of their career.

At Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust senior leaders joined nursing staff to raise the International Nurses’ Day flag - showing their appreciation for all the nurses who work at the organisation and who originate from all corners of the globe.

The Trust is home to nurses from 29 different countries, taking in Europe, Asia, Africa and even North America. Though their backgrounds may be diverse, they all share the same drive to provide the very best care possible to the people of Tameside and Glossop.

Peter Weller, Chief Nurse and Executive Director of Nursing and Integrated Governance  said: “I can’t express enough how proud I am to work with each and every nurse and nursing associate here at the Trust.

“The entire NHS was placed under incredible strain during the pandemic. It has not been easy for any of us, but the resilience shown by our nurses during this challenging period has been awe-inspiring.

“It is testament to the character of our nurses that even when under immense strain they continue to show compassion and concern for everyone they come into contact with. I’m proud that we can celebrate our nurses today and it is an honour to work alongside them.”
