Are you a photographer from Tameside or Glossop?

We are looking for local photographers – whether hobbyists or professionals – to take part in a special project to support people living with dementia.

In partnership with the Tameside Reporter, Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is asking for original photos of much-loved local landmarks. Selected images will be displayed on dementia wards at Tameside Hospital.

Going into hospital can be a challenging situation for somebody living with dementia. The unfamiliar environment may lead to confusion, distress and agitation.

But some small adjustments can make a big difference. Photos of familiar sights can help patients feel more orientated, evoke happy memories and bring comfort during their stay.

Tameside and Glossop residents are encouraged to get involved by submitting photos of nine locations, specially selected to capture the beauty of the local area:

  • Werneth Low Country Park - Hyde
  • Ashton Market - Ashton
  • Fairfield Moravian Settlement - Droylsden
  • Stalybridge Civic Hall - Stalybridge
  • Hartshead Pike - Mossley
  • Market Street fountains - Denton
  • Dinting Viaduct - Glossop
  • Manor Park - Glossop
  • Old Chapel – Dukinfield

To enter your photos for the project, please fill out the form available at: Dementia Photography Project :: Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care

Entries will close at 5pm on Friday 3 October 2025.

The team will choose a few photos from each location to display around the hospital, with full credit given to the photographer.

Please note: you must have taken the photos yourself to submit them for the project. We cannot accept photographs taken from another source, e.g. the internet or archives. You are welcome to submit more than one photo across multiple locations.
