The first Who’s Your Hero awards of 2023 have been handed out at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT.

Dr Khadija Qureshi and Jane Sutcliffe were the recipients of the awards, which recognise outstanding work by staff for patients or fellow colleagues.

Dr Qureshi, a Consultant in Anaesthesia and ICU, was nominated for being an exceptional supervisor to a junior doctor.

Despite demanding clinical commitments, Dr Qureshi ensured she was always on hand provide guidance and support, and made time to provide detailed feedback on assessments in progress meetings.

Jane received her nomination for saving the day when the switchboard suffered a telephone outage for four hours.

Despite being on a solo weekend shift, Jane followed the relevant contingency plans and calmly navigated the situation, informing departments across the hospital and ensuring wards received the relevant equipment to deal with the outage.

Trust Chief Executive, Karen James OBE, said: “It was great to start the New Year on a positive note by recognising our latest heroes at the Trust.

“They were two very different examples of where our staff have demonstrated our core values and behaviours, and I would like to congratulate both Khadija and Jane again.

“If you know someone who deserves to pick up one of these awards, please get in touch.”

Nominations can be made by both staff and patients of the Trust. Know someone you’d like to nominate? Submit your nomination via the form on our website.
