The British Medical Association (BMA) has announced strike action by resident doctors (formerly known as junior doctors) from 7am on Friday 14 November until 7am on Wednesday 19 November.
During these strikes, all other NHS staff (including consultants and other specialist doctors) will still be working, and the focus of the NHS will be on ensuring as many services as possible continue to operate safely.
Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust have made plans to maintain the safety, welfare and service of those in our care during the industrial action.
The NHS will be working closely with the BMA to discuss any patient safety concerns and ensure safe staffing for emergency care continues to be available.
Unless told otherwise, please continue to attend appointments and access services as planned.
If we have not contacted you, please attend your appointment as planned. We will contact you if your appointment needs to be rescheduled due to strike action.
Seeking urgent care
Regardless of any strike action taking place, patients who need urgent medical care continue should come forward as normal, especially in emergency and serious life-threatening cases – when someone is seriously ill or injured, or their life is at risk.
During the strikes, there may be fewer doctors working than usual, and they will need to prioritise life saving care. Less urgent cases may experience longer waits during strikes.

If it is not a life-threatening emergency, please use other options such as visiting a pharmacist, contacting your GP, calling 111 or visiting www.111.nhs.uk.

• Where to get an emergency supply of your prescribed medicine
• How to get a repeat prescription
GP practices will continue to be open during the resident doctors strikes. Please continue to attend your GP and dental appointments, unless you are contacted and told otherwise.
