We operate protected mealtimes. At set times throughout the day, all non-urgent clinical activity (including visiting) stops to help patients eat their meals in a calm atmosphere. These are as follows:
Breakfast: 8am to 8:30am
Lunch: 12pm to 1pm
Dinner: 5pm to 6pm
If your loved one needs help with feeding, we encourage family members to visit during mealtimes to help.
Our team is comprised of consultants, specialty doctors and a team of dedicated physiotherapists.
People treated by our Care of the Elderly service benefit from the following:
- An acute frailty service, accessed through A&E, that specialises in the timely assessment and management of older patients with complex health and social needs. Our service seeks to promote safe, effective and timely holistic care for patients that, where possible, occurs in a community setting
- Physiotherapy designed to improve physical function and independence to minimise risk of falls and improve mobility as well as psychological and social wellbeing
- Occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy
- Coordination with social services to prioritise care taking place outside of a hospital setting where possible
