New first port of call for Adult Social Care support

From Monday 30 March 2026, anyone needing support from the adult social care service can contact Tameside Council’s new Early Support and Advice Hub (ESAH) as their first port of call.

People who feel they need support from adult social care will need to contact ESAH by calling 0161 342 5656.

Healthcare or other professionals needing to make referrals to adult social care should also contact ESAH via the phone or by emailing DutyESAH@tameside.gov.uk.

Previously, the Integrated Health and Social Care Community Gateway coordinated calls for both Adult Social Care Services and District Nursing. The Community Gateway will continue to operate as the single point of contact for District Nursing and can be contacted on 0161 922 4888.

Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT said “The Community Gateway will continue to play an essential role as the single point of contact for District Nursing, offering a responsive, compassionate service for patients, carers and professionals.

“We will continue to work closely with Tameside Council to ensure members of our community can access the support they need as smoothly as possible.”

The ESAH team take a holistic approach – looking at what matters to each person, helping people navigate their options and find the right care and support at the right time. Their primary aim is to support residents to stay well, independent, and connected to the place they call home and doing the things that matter most to them.

Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council said “This team are dedicated and focused on making sure support fits each person’s unique needs. They look at all avenues in the community, shorter-term and equipment to keep them living as independently and well as possible in the place they call home.

“Please make sure to share this change with others, so people know where to go for support.’’
